In just a few short weeks, the Swedish royal family welcome former model Sofia Hellqvist into the royal fold when she marries Prince Carl Philip, who’s third in line for the Swedish throne. So she’s not actually a princess just yet, but she’ll be Mrs. Prince Carl Philip on June 13. To prep for the royal wedding, the bride and groom gathered with their families at Stockholm’s Royal Chapel yesterday to participate in a ceremonial reading of the banns of marriage, which serves as the official announcement that the couple intend to wed.
To celebrate, here’s Sofia’s engagement ring, along with those of her future sisters-in-law, Crown Princess Victoria and Princess Madeline.
Engagement Ring 1: Sofia Hellqvist, marrying Prince Carl Philip June 13, 2015
Looks like a round diamond in a round halo on a split-shank band with more diamonds in the band. The picture of the two of them is from today’s ceremony. Not sure what the paddles were for.
Engagement Ring 2: Princess Madeleine, married Christopher O’Neill on June 8, 2013
Looks like a princess-cut diamond—only fitting—on a pave band, flanked by a pave band on either side. In the big photo, the family, including Princess Leonore, is going to meet the pope.
Engagement Ring 3: Crown Princess Victoria, married Daniel Westling on June 19, 2010
Her ring is the most simple, a round diamond on a plain knife-edge setting. The girl pictured is their daughter, Princess Estelle. And the photo is from yesterday’s banns of marriage ceremony.
Is it a coincidence that all three have June wedding dates. Interesting.
